Great Weekend in Holland...... (13th, December 2009)
Hey,
This weekend I had a double dose of racing planned in
It was another chance to see where I’m at in the women’s field and a chance for two top quality training sessions.
I had ridden
I got to the race a little later than I usually would so was left rushing around before the start which I don’t like. Once I got to the start I was given the Dutch flick and had to start on the back row with 4 rows of girls ahead of me and single track after 200m it was going to be a case of trying to be patient and work my way up through the field, patience isn’t one of my best quality’s as it is and so 2 laps later I was at the front of the race and starting to catch the junior boys which were set off about a minute ahead of us. I felt really strong and I came away with a 2nd place, it was hard to tell where I was in the race because of so many people around , I didn’t actually know that Linda van Rijen was just ahead of me until the last straight when I seen her putting her hands up! I was pretty gutted that she was only just ahead of me and I didn’t know….. But that’s racing and I was still happy to get on the podium and come away with a bit of money and flowers.
The next day i travelled to Veldhoven….a cross I had never ridden before but ide heard it was a circuit in the woods and technical. This time I made sure I left early, in time to have a few laps of the course and a good warm up. Luckily I managed to sneak on the front row today! This made such a difference off the start and within about 500m I was in 1st position which is where I finished J.
It was great to step on the top spot of the podium and I’m really looking forward to the next few weeks of racing.
Thank you for all the support!
Nikki x
